Karsten Wambach started his consultancy in May 2012.
His main focus is new business development, interim management, scale up of innovative processes/products and process optimisation, promoting concepts like green production, sustainability and resource saving waste treatment. He is a specialist in recycling of PV modules. He is experienced in the scale up of new technologies, marketing of complex products and business developments in silicon and PV technology. He developed decorative PV façade elements, BIPV projects, roof top modules with other companies, architects and research institutes.
He was managing director of SolarWorld’s subsidiary Sunicon GmbH and of SolarCycle GmbH. He was responsible for operations, administration, marketing and sales and certification (EN 29000, EN 14000, environment, health and safety, EFB (certified waste treatment company), six sigma and TPM. Before that he worked at Flabeg Solar International GmbH and Bayer AG.
He has >30 years experience in photovoltaics, glass processing, industrial chemistry, circular economy and metallurgy.
He is the initiator and one of the founders of PVCYCLE Association in Brussels representing most of the companies in the PV market in Europe to implement a voluntary take back and recycling system and was its first president from 2007 ‐2011.
He chaired the sustainability working group of EPIA for 2 years, works as German delegate in IEA PVPS task 12 (EHS) on sustainability issues and Lifecycle Analysis (LCA) guidelines and is a member of the Scientific Committee of EUPVSEC for Sustainability Aspects.
He has an education as environmental auditor and gained expertise in circular econmy of wastes from incinerators, electronics, carbon fiber reinforced materials, hard materials (CRM and non-CRM). He is active in assessemnt and recycling of wastes and valorisation.
